Here are some examples of Internet and intranet applications developed for some of our clients. While it is not possible to demonstrate the many applications we have developed, we hope these give a flavour of the solutions we can provide.

Intranets offer new solutions for old problems. Our hypertext organisation chart and stock ordering system are examples of new solutions to two old problems - rapid information dissemination and automated stock order processing.

Intranets offer unprecedented opportunities to integrate data from a variety of sources. Whether from a legacy MIS or current production systems, data can be automatically extracted on a regular basis into an SQL database. Add some PERL and a pinch of JavaScript and you have an intranet Management Information System complete with graphs, exception reporting and drill-down analysis.

To convert this to a key component of an Executive Information System would require monthly data for several years to be stored, to permit time-series analysis, perhaps in conjunction with external data. A method of storing and selectively displaying textual information related to the numbers would also be advantageous. Exception reports and other bells and whistles could be added in in a modular fashion. None of these requirements are technically complex.

To judge the power of a good website utility to pull in visitors and attract links from other sites go to Alta Vista and search for

link: www.poptel.org.uk/leedspostcards/

which will display a list of sites which contain a link to the postLeeds web site. Note how most of these refer to the Virtual Postcard feature of the site.

Our Browser Survey, considered by Netscape to be amongst the top 10 world-wide, was a pioneering attempt to provide some real data to disperse some of the fog of misinformation in the browser wars.

The Web is a wonderful repository of real-time as well as static data.  However these data may be widely distributed.  One solution to the problem is a Web Robot or Web Agent - a server-side process that periodically gathers data from one or more sources on the web.  These data can then by utilised to provide a time-series analysis, as our example demonstrates, or a unified presentation of key indicators.

Our Hyperlink Verifier is an offshoot of a bespoke current awareness search engine, developed to track references to new technologies on the web.
